Before I talk about the modern glam farmhouse style, I will discuss the farmhouse style. The modern farmhouse style has been around for years. It has utilized different names such as English country, rustic, colonial or primitive. Today’s renditions are rustic but refined and modern. It is traditional with a contemporary twist. The result is a room that feels warm and inviting but also light, airy and sophisticated.

Rustic style can happen in the city, suburbs or the country. You can create it regardless of location. A critical element of this style is texture. Since the modern farmhouse style is made up of neutral colours, you’ll need a mix of textures to keep the space from looking flat.

For example, the white linen-like textile on the chair and table runner adds texture. So does the raised rectangular pieces on the modern wall art.
